Did anyone notice that there are massive leases being signed recently? Just 2 years ago, the largest lease in Houston for 200,000 square feet was signed by Deloitte. In simular style, it looks as though KPMG is following Deloitte and is expanding their Houston presence with a 108,000 square foot lease they signed this week at MainPlace. This is nothing compared to the 500,000 Home Depot LEED facility announced last month. For those that don’t know, the 46-story MainPlace is being developed by the Hines CalPERS Green Development Fund. They are focused on building sustainable office buildings throughout the US. I read that MainPlace recently attained LEED Silver pre-certification.If accountants can run the numbers and see the benefits of being in a LEED facility, surely other businesses can and will.
